3 Days, 50 Miles, Closer to a Cure!

From my brother Paul:

Hi, everyone -

It's time to lace up my sneakers and get prepared for my annual 3-Day 50-mile MS Challenge Walk. This year will be my 23rd and I'm determined as always to conquer the miles that lay ahead.

This year's challenge at the Cape begins on Friday, September 5th and will follow its familiar path through the streets of Hyannis, Dennis, Yarmouth, Falmouth and Barnstable.

I'm looking forward to another great weekend with my MS Challenge family. Each walker and volunteer has his or her own personal story with MS, either fighting its effects directly or having a loved one who is doing so. Every powerful story that is told and each tear that is shed along the way gives us all an even greater resolve to reach that finish line.

As you know, I participate proudly on behalf of my sister Anne, who has bravely taken MS head-on for the past 25 years. Her strength and determination are always my sources of inspiration throughout the weekend.

This year, I'm also walking in memory of the many family members who have unfortunately passed since last year's event. I will be thinking of my cousins Maureen and Stephen, my cousin-in-law Dave, as well as my Aunt Kay and Aunt Mary. I will also carry the memory of my Dad, who passed away on June 7th, just days after his 97th birthday. He had always been an example of selfless service and commitment to his community and was a great supporter of the MS Society. I will miss him dearly but I know that he'll be with me in spirit every step of the way.

On the fundraising front, I have an ambitious goal to reach $7,500, but I know, with your help, we can reach that mark and more. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated and to those who will be joining the fight soon. Your unwavering kindness and generosity over the years has meant the world to me, my family and, especially, my sister.
